Jatayu Earth’s Center, situated in the southern state of Kerala, India, houses the largest bird sculpture in the world. This magnificent sculpture, measuring 200 feet in length, 150 feet in width, and 70 feet in height, represents Jatayu, a mythical bird from Hindu mythology.

According to Hindu tradition, Jаtаyu was а loyal ervаnt of Lord Rаmа, who condescended to the Hindu deity Vhnu. When the demon king Rаvаnа kidnapped Lord Rаmа’s wife, Stа, Jаtаyu tried to save her but was fatally injured in the ensuing battle. As a result, Jаtаyu became a symbol of courage, loyalty, and elflene.

The Jatayu Earth’s Center is located atop a hill in Chadayamangalam, a small town in Kerala’s Kollam district. Opened to the public in 2018, the center spans an area of 65 acres and offers a range of activities for visitors, including rock climbing, rappelling, and zip-lining.



At the heart of the Jatayu Earth’s Center is the massive sculpture of Jatayu. This sculpture, made of high-density foam and concrete, took a team of skilled artists and engineers over six years to complete. It is designed to depict Jatayu lying on the ground with his wings spread out, as if he is protecting the area.

In addition to the Jatayu sculpture, the center features various other attractions. Visitors can explore a museum showcasing the history and culture of the region, as well as a 6D theater that offers an immersive experience of the story of Jatayu. Several restaurants and cafes serving delicious local cuisine are also available on the premises.
