Yankees Reveal Plan for 21-Year-Old Top Prospect

Coming off a World Series loss, the New York Yankees will be highly motivated to get back to making another deep postseason run.

After losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets in free agency, the Yankees will need to replace an everyday player both at the plate and in the field. Aaron Judge is set to replace Soto’s spot in right field, and free agent signing Cody Bellinger will be stationed in center field.

That just leaves left field unoccupied. While the Yankees do have Giancarlo Stanton, his days of playing outfield everyday are long gone; Stanton appeared in 114 games last year and did not register a single game in the outfield.

After meeting with the press today, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was asked if the Yankees are assuming that Jasson Dominguez is the starting left fielder; Boone replied, “I would like to think so.”

Dominguez is the top prospect in the Yankees’ farm system, and is currently rated as the 21st overall prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. The hype for Dominguez has always been there, as he was the number one international free agent available in the class of 2019.

While Aaron Boone did allude to their being a competition in camp, it does seem like a formality that Dominguez will be starting everyday come late March.

Continuing his response about Dominguez, Boone stated, “I feel like he’s in a good spot right now. He’s got a good look in his eye and he’s going to get every opportunity to be that guy and we certainly are hoping he shows us that.”
