The New England Patriots acquired Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams in free agency. In this trade pitch, the Patriots trade with the Eagles for another defensive lineman from the Super Bowl roster.
For this trade pitch, the Patriots send a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for edge rusher Bryce Huff from the Eagles. Philadelphia has been rumored to be shopping the defensive lineman, and the Patriots could take a swing at him.
New England has a lot of cap space, even after all of their free-agent additions. One of the ways the Patriots could look to improve their roster is by trading for players on undesirable contracts. Huff fits that description.
The cost for Huff won’t be a lot, and with the Patriots’ cap space, they can absorb the Huff contract easily. New England has limited options, and while Huff was disappointing in Philadelphia, the Patriots could take a swing on his upside for just a seventh-round pick.

His large contract, combined with Huff being a healthy scratch for the Super Bowl, has effectively tanked his value around the NFL. Few teams would be interested in Huff, and the Patriots would be one of the few teams that could afford to take a chance on Huff.
If the Patriots do acquire Huff, he would likely be a rotational edge rusher with Harold Landry, Keion White, Anfernee Jennings, and K’Lavon Chaisson. Allowing Huff to be a full-time pass rusher is where he succeeded with the New York Jets.
As a rotational edge rusher, Huff had 10 sacks in 2023. While his production took a nosedive in 2024, there is still something to work with in his game. Huff will be 27, and the Patriots could easily move off of him in 2026 if he doesn’t pan out in 2025.
A trade for Huff wouldn’t cost much and is the perfect type of swing the Patriots should take with all of their cap space. The free agent market is dried up, and New England might not find a better option so cheap.
