On Saturday afternoon during a divisional round bout against the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the beneficiary of a few calls that had Texans players outraged after the game.
For his part, Mahomes believes the Chiefs winning games leads to fan outrage suggesting his team gets all the calls. During a recent interview he made it clear he doesn’t pay attention to the outcry, believing there are calls for and against both teams during the course of a game.
“I’ve learned that no matter what happens during the game, something is going to come out about it if you win, if you continue to win,” Mahomes said. “I don’t really pay attention to it. Obviously, I’ve been on both sides of it as far as how I’ve felt that calls were made. But at the end of the day, those guys are doing their best to make the best calls and keep it to where the players are making the plays in the game and that’s what decides the outcome. Obviously, there was a call here and there that people didn’t agree with, but at the same time I think there were a lot of other plays that decided the outcome of that football game.”

Mahomes later admitted that one of the plays where penalty was not called – his flop along the sideline – was correctly called by the officials.
“I would say the only one I felt like I probably did too much was the one on the sideline where I didn’t get the flag,” Mahomes said. “The refs saw it and it didn’t get a flag. I understood it immediately and know that I probably shouldn’t have done that.”
Fans weren’t too pleased with his honesty because they don’t think he’ll stop manipulating plays on the field in order to get a favorable call.
“Yea but he will keep doing it because he keeps getting the calls,” one fan said.
“He is a habitual flopper. And the NFL still gives him all the calls,” said another.
“It’s just a matter of time before he starts getting people hurt. Defensive players are going to think I’m getting 15 no matter what, might as well get my money’s worth,” added another.
Mahomes and the Chiefs will be back on the field this weekend in the AFC title game against the Buffalo Bills.
