Chukwuma Okorafor had enough of the New England Patriots after only one game.
But the veteran offensive lineman ultimately decided he isn’t done with his football career just yet.
The New York Jets picked up Okorafor off the free-agent market on Wednesday, per the league’s transaction wire. Details of Okorafor’s deal were not revealed.
Okorafor’s time with the Patriots was bizarre. He started New England’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, but was pulled after 12 snaps and wasn’t seen from again. Okorafor left the team following that game and the Patriots placed him on the exempt/left squad list. New England ended up releasing Okorafor last month.
Okorafor, who played six seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and made 59 starts, was viewed as a key pickup in free agency last offseason when the Patriots signed him to a one-year, $4 million deal. He was expected to fill a major void on the offensive line but seemed disgruntled about being moved from right tackle to left tackle for the Patriots.
Okorafor, 27, now joins a Jets franchise that might even be more dysfunctional than the Patriots. He is projected as the starting right tackle at the moment and will get to face the Patriots twice next season.
