Despite recent improvements and Dak Prescott’s anticipated recovery, concerns linger over the current backfield’s efficiency.
Proposed by Aaliyan Mohammed of Sporting News, a blockbuster trade involving the Cowboys would involve them sending their No. 76 pick and a future third-round pick to acquire to the San Francisco 49ers, which would land them star Christian McCaffrey.
That is the type of move that could transform their offensive capabilities if he remains healthy.
“The Dallas Cowboys need a huge change in their backfield after being one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL last season. They could swing a blockbuster trade to add a superstar running back.
“The Cowboys signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders this offseason. Both players struggled last season and may not be reliable enough to lead the backfield. Last season, the Cowboys had the sixth least rushing yards in the league and had just three runs of over 20 yards. The Cowboys could target a running back in the draft, but this trade with the San Francisco 49ers could land them one of the best players in the NFL,” Mohammed wrote.
Last season, both teams failed to make the postseason for the first time since 2020, with the 49ers coming off a Super Bowl appearance in 2023.

Celtics Lab NBA Basketball PodcastOn Boston escaping Indy with a Game 1 win, what’s coming in Game 2 with Kory WaldronGame 1 of the Boston Celtics Eastern Conference finals series with the Indiana Pacers is in the books, and the Celtics have a 1-0 series lead with their 133-128 win. But it took overtime to pull it off, and Boston digging deep with a few lucky breaks to pull out the win, a few minor mistakes over the course of the contest nearly costing them the win in their own arena of TD Garden (and home court advantage with it). Perhaps having been burned so many times before in similar situations helped them find the necessary gear, but there are some serious concerns in need of a fix for Boston to advance to the 2024 NBA Finals. How will they manage to stay afloat in their frontcourt rotation with Kristaps Porzingis still several games away from a return? Can they keep using drop coverage so liberally? And what players off their bench can make an impact in this series? The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Kory Waldron, the host of the “Full Access Hoops” podcast to break down what we saw in Game 1 and what we expect in Game 2. McCaffrey wasn’t able to play in 2024 until Week 10, dealing with Achilles tendonitis.
Earlier this month, the Cowboys added more depth to the backfield after signing Javonte Williams and then Carolina Panthers free agent running back Miles Sanders.
Sanders could be a nice signing. He spent the first four years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and was quite successful, racking up 1,269 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
Dallas Cowboys Had Terrible Rushing Attack During The 2024 Season

The Cowboys can certainly pass the football. It has been proven for years with Dak Prescott at quarterback.
The problem for them is finding a steady rushing attack to help him.
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have been criticized for not being aggressive during the offseason despite having so many needs.
The Cowboys’ rushing attack ranked sixth-worst last season, averaging just 95.7 yards per game.
That is problematic.
