Randi, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has posted a tribute to her father and Patrick’s grandfather after his passing.
The family of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is dealing with the loss of his grandfather.
Patrick’s mother, Randi, has posted on her Instagram page about when her father, Larry Martin, passed away, and she detailed that she was holding his hand as he passed.
While we often think about football as the be-all and end-all when our team wins or loses, in truth, it’s just a game, and moments like this make many realize how precious life is.
“Hard to find the words of holding my father’s hand as he goes to Heaven,” Randi wrote. I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23.”
Unfortunately, losing parents and grandparents is a part of life that most have to deal with, and now it’s Randi and Patrick’s turn.
With Randi’s father’s health reportedly declining over the past couple of months, he can finally be at peace, with the Mahomes family now mourning his passing.
Martin, whose full name was Larry Randy Martin, passed away Wednesday at the age of 78 and a funeral is planned for Monday.
It was on Jan. 24 when Randi Mahomes revealed that her father had entered hospice. … just two days before the Chiefs played the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
The Chiefs defeated the Bills and advanced to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, with Randi saying her dad was “holding on” to watch The Big Game.
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22 in the NFL finale.
It is now expected that we won’t hear from Patrick or any of his family members after his grandfather’s passing. Everyone deals with grief in their own way and what is good for one, might not be good for someone else.
But at least Patrick’s grandfather got to see him play one last time in the Super Bowl before he passed and while it wasn’t the result many wanted, seeing his grandson perform on the field surely provided him some joy in his final days.
Rest easy, Mr. Martin.
