The Denver Nuggets have had a great season thus far and they received more positive news on Monday regarding one of their key players’ health.
After a slow start to the season, the Nuggets have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past few months. They currently sit third in the Western Conference standings with a 39-22 record.
Of course, Nikola Jokic has been the main reason for Denver’s success this season as he is putting together arguably the best season of his career, but the rest of the roster has also played great.
Despite this, the Nuggets’ bench has struggled this season and it has not helped that Peyton Watson has missed the last month due to a knee sprain. On Monday, Watson sent out a two-word message about his injury.
“Ocho back,” Watson posted on Instagram.
This is great for the Nuggets as it looks like Watson will return to the court for them on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings. Watson has missed the last 13 games for Denver due to a knee sprain and they have desperately missed his production off the bench.
Before his injury, the 22-year-old guard was averaging 8.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 47.1% from the field and 34.0% from three-point range.
Watson is putting together the best season of his career and has become one of the Nuggets’ top options off the bench. His improved shooting numbers and his defensive intensity has been missed by Denver with him out, but he is now expected to return after a month off.
Of course, with Watson missing over a month due to his knee injury, he will likely be rusty in his first game back, but he will have the rest of the regular season to find his form again before Denver attempts another championship run.
