BEAKING: NFL draft analyst puts together dream 3-rounds for Patriots in 2025

Although free agency is expected to be a momentous time in New England this year due to the amount of cap space they have to take advantage of and a new coaching staff seemingly willing to spend it, the upcoming NFL draft is also projected to be a significant moment for the Patriots this offseason.

With the No. 4 overall pick and desirable positioning in the later rounds, they will have a prime opportunity to select some of the best talent available from the upcoming class, no matter which side of the roster they choose to improve. Fortunately, and unfortunately, offense and defense need a lot of help for different reasons, but some stellar players should be on the board once the Patriots are on the clock.

That’s what makes their first-round pick all the more interesting, as Colorado’s Travis Hunter, the top receiver, could fall into their laps, or Abdul Carter, the best pass rusher, if they want to bolster their defensive line.

In the latest mock draft by NFL.com, Chad Reuter tries to accomplish the best of both worlds in the early rounds and puts together perhaps the best first three picks for the Patriots anyone could have dreamed of.

The Patriots would hit a homerun in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft if these were their picks

In his first 3-round mock draft of the season, Reuter addresses the biggest positions of need for the Patriots early and has them selecting some of the best available talent when they’re on the board to make the biggest impact on the roster.

In his first 3-round mock draft of the season, Reuter addresses the biggest positions of need for the Patriots early and has them selecting some of the best available talent when they’re on the board to make the biggest impact on the roster.

He sticks with the current trend of taking Carter in the first round, immediately making the Patriots’ defense a dominant force once again.

“The Patriots land a difference-maker with the No. 4 pick. Carter’s speed and relentless nature immediately improve one of the league’s worst pass rushes, while his experience as both a hand-down and off-ball defender gives new coach Mike Vrabel flexibility up front.”

To continue improving some of the neediest groups on the roster, Reuter then has New England select one of the top offensive linemen of the class, taking Aireontae Ersery out of Minnesota at No. 38. It’s an excellent move for the team if they choose to bypass the position in the first round, as they still get a quality talent anyway.

Reuter has them end the 3-round mock draft by sticking with the offense again by drafting wide receiver Isaiah Bond out of Texas. He’s the outside receiver the team has been lacking in recent years and would immediately be a difference-maker for Drake Maye this fall.

While all three picks might not be the names many fans have been dreaming about since the Patriots picks were made official, they’re still the kind of talent and necessary upgrades the roster needs. That is the primary focus of this offseason, and not signing the flashiest names just because they can.

Bringing in the right guys for the job should be the motivation behind every roster decision the new regime makes, including in the draft.
