Phoenix Suns superstar and 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant joined elite company after his performance on Tuesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Although the Suns fell short in the game, Durant’s 34-point outing helped him surpass 30,000 career points, joining an exclusive group of only eight players in NBA history to achieve this feat. He also became the third-fastest player to reach this milestone, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan.
Following the game, Durant wasn’t thrilled with the loss, but NBA legend and Hall of Famer Magic Johnson took to social media to send a strong message of congratulations to him on his incredible achievement.
“Congratulations future Hall of Famer and All-Time NBA great Kevin Durant on becoming only the 8th player in NBA History to score over 30,000 points!” Johnson said. “He’s the 3rd fastest to do so, only behind Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan”

Durant has firmly established himself as one of the league’s greatest pure scorers of all time. At 36 years old, he has won the scoring title four times and played a key role in leading the Golden State Warriors to two NBA championships during his time with the franchise.
Over the course of his career, spanning more than 1,000 games, Durant is averaging 27.3 points per game, while shooting 50.2% from the field and 38.8% from beyond the arc.

Johnson wasn’t the only one to recognize the milestone, as Grizzlies guard Ja Morant also had high praise for Durant during his postgame interview after Memphis defeated Phoenix 119-112.
“He’s one of the greats,” Morant said. “So I honored him with the ball. He said he doesn’t care too much about it, but not everyone gets to 30,000 in this league, so hats off to him. I hope he keeps going. We want to see him out here.”
