Denver Nuggets Make Nikola Jokic Announcement, Add Bold Prediction

The Denver Nuggets continued their dominant stretch on Monday, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers to extend their winning streak to seven games.

Denver now finds themselves sitting third in the Western Conference standings with a 35-19 record. They also sit just one game behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the second seed in the West.

Of course, their superstar center Nikola Jokić has played a major role in their recent win streak, and the NBA made a major announcement about him on Monday. Ahead of Monday’s game, the NBA announced that Jokić was named Western Conference Player of the Week.

This is the third time this season that Jokić has won the award, which is the most of any player in the NBA this season. It is also the 17th time he has earned Western Conference Player of the Week in his incredible career, which is the most in Nuggets franchise history.

After it was announced, the Nuggets made a post on X that not only showed Jokić’s mind-boggling stats from last week, but also gave a bold prediction.

“Averaging a near 30-point triple-double, not only this week, but all season,” Denver posted on X. “MVP.”

At the end of the post, the Nuggets used MVP with a joker card, which is Jokić’s nickname. Of course, Jokić is currently a frontrunner to win the fourth MVP award this season, but he has some tough competition in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to beat.

This season, Jokić is 29.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 10.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 57.8% from the field and 45.6% from three. If he can continue these averages, he would join Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to average a triple-double throughout an entire NBA season.

While Jokić has posted incredible numbers this season, he is still in a tight race with Shai, but it is clear that the Nuggets believe he should be the MVP this season.
