The Golden State Warriors want to create a monster trio with Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.
The Golden State Warriors are stuck in a difficult position right now. They sit 11th in the Western Conference with a 24-24 record.
Furthermore, the Warriors bowed out of the Jimmy Butler race, opening the door for the Phoenix Suns. While Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry had concerns over Butler, missing out on him is a big blow.
With the trade window just a few days away, they are running out of options. Perhaps Golden State could make a move for Zion Williamson soon.
However, the Warriors have a dream. And unlike years past, it is more possible than it has ever been in the past.

Warriors inquire about Kevin Durant
The Golden State Warriors have reportedly inquired about Kevin Durant over the last week. Earlier, their approach was rebuffed. However, they have renewed their interest again, according to Jake Fischer.
And this time around, the Phoenix Suns are more receptive to offers for the former MVP. With the trade landscape having changed, the Suns are considering all options now.
“Golden State continued to deliberate over… exploring the feasibility of reuniting Kevin Durant with Stephen Curry.”
“The path to Durant alone does seem plausible. Phoenix, entering Monday’s business, continued to signal that it does not plan to move Durant before the deadline, sources said.”
“But the Suns are believed to be listening at the very least to various teams’ pitches for the 35-year-old scoring legend. Durant, meanwhile, is said to be aware of all this.”
Landing Durant would be quite the coup. And unlike other trade options, there is less of a risk involved, given that the pairing of Curry and Durant is a proven success, even as recently as this past summer.
However, the Warriors are dreaming of something even bigger. And as I wrote above, fans got a glimpse of this last summer.

Warriors want Curry/LeBron/Durant trio
Fischer wrote in the same report that the Warriors are dreaming of a trio involving Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.
While Fischer did claim that making that happen is difficult, it is emblematic of the big-move mania that has consumed the Warriors for the last few years.
“Sources say the most ambitious idea being tossed around among Golden State’s decision-makers: Is there any feasible pathway for the Warriors to pull off the dreamiest of outcomes and find a way to bring both James and Durant to The Bay?”
“That would require quite the masterstroke. And while pulling that off currently stands as very unlikely, both from a salary-matching and asset valuation standpoint, this is the sort of big-game hunting that has defined these Warriors.”
Durant is definitely in play for the Warriors. However, the Lakers have no intention of trading LeBron, as they want him to mentor Luka Doncic.
But what if the Warriors can pull it off? The move would be a blockbuster. NBA fans would get the chance to see the three best players of their generation share the court together.
