The 2025 NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. ET, which means it’s just high time to hear all sorts of rumors involving several players. After all, if Luka Doncic could get traded, who can say that they’re untouchable?
As for the Denver Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. is someone whose name has always been linked to trade rumors over the past months. But he also just got some reassurance that he’s not going to be sent elsewhere ahead of the trade deadline.
“No because we’re not trading Michael Porter,” Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said following Monday night’s 125-113 win at Ball Arena in Denver over the New Orleans Pelicans when asked whether he’s had trade talks with Porter (h/t ESPN).

“So I’m not touching base with anybody on that. … And if there’s something coming, obviously [Nuggets GM Calvin Booth] will talk with me and I’m sure we’ll communicate with whatever players. But Michael is a really important piece, he helped us win a championship.”
If teams were targeting Porter, they probably would have been left wanting the former Missouri Tigers star more after he dropped 36 points on 12-for-22 shooting from the field in the Pelicans game.
So far in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, Porter is third on the Nuggets with 18.3 points per game on 51.3 percent shooting from the field. His size and ability to stretch the floor greatly impact the Nuggets’ offense. He is shooting 40.8 percent from behind the arc on 6.3 3-point attempts per outing.
Porter, who is 26, has two more years left in his contract beyond this season. He will be earning $38.33 million in the 2025-26 campaign and $40.80 in 2026-27 before becoming a free agent.
