It looks like the Miami Heat’s chances of a Kevin Durant claim have been boosted after the latest claim.
Kevin Durant has been linked with a move to the Miami Heat for years. Could it finally end up materializing next summer?
Durant continues to put up elite numbers for the Suns but it looks like the organization might be ready to move on and had tried to find him a new home before the February 6 trade deadline.
According to Duane Rankin, sources informed The Arizona Republic that Durant’s camp was upset that the Suns put him in trade talks before the 2025 deadline, as he rejected a move back to the Golden State Warriors.
It is understandable that Durant might not have wanted to leave in the middle of the season. But considering how it all played out, it is hard to imagine that he will remain in Phoenix beyond the summer, especially as his camp were not happy with the situation.
Miami has been suggested as a potential destination for Durant, if he did end up leaving Phoenix.
In the past, it has been claimed that Durant would be interested in the idea of playing for the Heat.
Making a move for Durant would make a ton of sense for the Heat as well. Yes, he is in the twilight of his career but the 36-year-old is still averaging 26.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 52.9% from the field and 41.3% from beyond the arc. How many players in the league are capable of that?
On top of that, Durant has Championship experience, having won two with the Warriors, alongside a couple of Finals MVPs as well.
It seems pretty clear that neither Tyler Herro nor Bam Adebayo will be able to guide the Heat to a championship as the face of the franchise. But they could certainly challenge for a ring if they had a player like Durant in the team.
