Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders seem to have found their quarterback for the 2025 NFL season.
The Raiders acquired Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks on Friday for a 2025 third-round pick, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Smith revived his career with the Seahawks after he took over for Russell Wilson in 2022. The quarterback threw for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and completed a career-high 69.8% of his passes en route to a playoff berth. Seattle rewarded Smith with a three-year, $75 million deal.
Despite a strong 2022 season, Smith never quite found the same kind of success in 2023 and 2024 with the Seahawks missing the playoffs the last two years.
But now Smith reunites with Raiders coach Pete Carroll, who coached the quarterback for four seasons in Seattle.
Smith’s departure is just another layer to the sweeping changes the Seahawks have made so far this offseason. They released Tyler Lockett, and D.K. Metcalf requested a trade.
