The 2024 NFL season has come to a close, marking the end of Tom Brady’s inaugural stint as part of the FOX Sports broadcasting team.
The Super Bowl broadcasting rights currently operate on a four-year rotation between FOX, NBC, ESPN, and CBS. FOX had the honour of broadcasting Super Bowl LIX, with Brady joining Kevin Burkhardt in the commentary box for the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite his seven-time Super Bowl champion status, Brady faced a barrage of criticism earlier in the season, seemingly struggling to transition from player to analyst. Instead of calling plays on the field, the 46 year-old was charged with breaking down each moment of the game for millions of viewers. Brady took to Instagram to mark the end of his first season with FOX.
Meanwhile, Michael Strahan also posted a tribute to his FOX NFL Sunday crew on social media amid speculation that Terry Bradshaw and Jimmy Johnson may retire.
Brady pays tribute to ‘special experience’
Even for someone as accomplished as Brady, he faced struggles as a rookie in his new profession. But his experience in the Big Game as a player shone through; when Burkhardt asked him what the Chiefs might be going through as the Eagles were running riot, Brady poignantly reflected on why he remembers his three Super Bowl losses more than his seven wins.
He said: “I still haven’t really lived it down, because you care so deeply. It’s the highest of highs when you’re trying to win and do something historic in the NFL and unfortunately, it’s the lowest of lows.”
Despite stuttering at points in his debut season as an NFL commentator, Brady took to social media to post photos of himself with Erin Andrews, Rob Gronkowski, Burkhardt, and more. He took to Instagram with the caption: “The 2024 @nfl season is in the books. It certainly was a new challenge to undertake but I couldn’t have asked for a better team to be a part of and learn from!
“To all of my @nflonfox teammates, producers, crew, and colleagues – you made this experience so special, and I’m grateful for the energy, dedication and perseverance you brought every week while always delivering the best broadcast for the fans who we serve week in and week out. It’s always been about the TEAM and I’m lucky to be part of this great one @foxsports. Wait… How long until Week 1???? LFG!! #ontothenextone.”
Brady has completed his first year of a massive 10-year contract worth $375 million and has shown growth in his new role despite a number of controversies, including his minority ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders.

FOX Sports’ next Super Bowl broadcast is scheduled for February 2029 and Strahan seemed emotional as he posted about Bradshaw and Johnson. Bradshaw, a Pittsburgh Steelers legend, has worked on 14 Super Bowls, but would need a contract extension to be part of the coverage in four years.
